Friday Night

Ahhhh, Friday night is almost as good as Saturday. Oliver, our cat, and I are home alone. He's asleep in my Mama Bear Chair and I'm relaxing in the recliner with my laptop.

No radio, no television, no noise except an occasional vehicle on Main Street or a neighbor's dog barking. The quietness of the evening is welcomed. Energetic, rambuntious, talkative 5-6 year olds can make one yearn for just a wee bit---oh, come on Hannah---a whole lot of peace and quiet!

Rosy is bowling and Maggie is at a friend's birthday party...yes, a boy/girl birthday party with dancing. I can't wait to hear her rendition of the shindig. I can promise you it will be one of great interest. The possible theme of the party could be "Who's who and who's through." It doesn't seem possible that my baby doesn't need me to walk her in and stay with her at the party. Yep, those days are history.

I might even try to put some other pictures on here if the stillness of the house doesn't lull me to sleep.

Hurray!!!!

I finally finished my Basket Weave Scarf tonight! Maggie and I figured out how to post pics. This old dog is still learning new tricks! LOL

Maggie is Home

My baby arrived home from a fun-filled weekend. We are home today because I think she had 'too much' weekend and she has a case of the "I Don't Feel Goods" this morning. I've already been to Wal-Mart this morning to get some goods in before the weather hits --be it rain, snow, sleet, etc.

Another good day to sit by the fire and read, knit, nap, do laundry, and take care of her.
It's good to have her home again.

Ahhhh, the weekend

There can never been too many Saturdays...my favorite day of the week. It's very quiet here at Gillenwater Manor. Our Maggie is in Gatlinburg with friends for the weekend. They are attending "Resurrection" ~ a teen oriented Christian conference. I talked to her this morning and they didn't get much sleep last night but she still sounded good. She is a gal who has to have her sleep. After their session this morning, they get to hit the streets of G'burg and have free time until supper and tonight's session. She will be home tomorrow afternoon. Indeed, there's a great deal of energy NOT here. I do miss her!

I DID get the bookshelf cleaned up and weeded out some books. The sad thing....you can't tell I've done anything. That's why I don't like to clean. It's a total waste of time and energy.

I'm headed to turn on my gas logs (and blower) and knit on my basket weave scarf. I would like to wear it some THIS winter.

Ahhh, Saturdays.....

Finally, Another Post

Tomorrow is a new beginning for our country.

I saw where the Bush family moved out and the Obama family moved in the White House all in a matter of 6 hours. Good grief, it would take me 6 hours to clean out ONE closet! No matter our political affiliation, I feel that we must lift our new President, his family and our great country in fervent prayer.

Tomorrow is also Rosy's 51st birthday. Of course, he just always says, "It's just another day." Happy Birthday, Rose Bud!!

Maggie, Oliver (the cat) and I are enjoying our MLK holiday out of school. It's been nice to watch the snow flurries from the living room vantage point and not the classroom. It was also a very nice surprise to get the day off on Friday due to frigid temps. I was able to be with a few of my knitting buddies who braved the elements to meet at the library. I'm not sure how much knitting got done, but we all 'semi-caught up' with one another and wished many others could have been there. Maggie and I also got to eat lunch at Miss Bea's with Pam and Helene. Yummo!

I'm going to hush. I'm actually thinking about straightening/organizing my hallway bookshelf. (Thinking and actually doing are two separate things, you know.) My dad's wife, Guerry, had a qualified Feng Shui lady/consultant come to her house to help her "improve" her house. One of the things the lady said is that a book shelf should never be FULL of books. Guerry and I have pondered... then what in the world do you do with your books and the EMPTY space on the shelves?!?!?! Good grief, I KNOW I don't want that woman here at Gillenwater Manor. She can just mind her own business! LOL

Here's to new beginnings in our country, cleaner bookshelves, and Rosy's happy day.

Last Day...

Good grief, here it is the last day of Christmas vacation...It's back to setting the alarm clock once again for 6:00 a.m. Yuck. I know that I should be glad to have a job and I am glad. I suppose I just yearn to be my own boss and not have to supervise 5 year olds and keep them safe and teach them all they are suppose to know before going on to First Grade. Yep, retirement is looking better and better.

Rosy is bowling in a tournament today. He was so excited. In a way, I feel I ought to be there to support him, but another way, I don't want to jinx him. Of course, it just gets him all frustrated whenever I get near him. I just tear him all to pieces! LOL I suppose I'll just stay home and continue to rest and try to get over this crud that has pounced on me. Finally my throat and ear and have quit hurting. The "Z pack" must be doing some good.

I now have a new piece of furniture to add to my NEST by the fireplace. It is a little cart on casters to hold my drink, phone, knitting, Bible, other reads, and catalogs. It's really not too tacky and will probably fall apart before the winter winds turn to spring rains. Yep, it was made in China and of course, I had to enlist Rosy on a couple of 'screws'. The holes weren't lining up as suppose to...naturally. Anyway, Maggie has had a good laugh because I'm so cute relaxing in the the recliner with the laptop and my new little cart by my side.

Life is good.

Now, where's the snow, hot chocolate and the fire in the fireplace? Maybe toward the middle of the week.....

Maiden Voyage

2009 is here. I have admired my friends ~ Angie, Pam and Mary Ann for their creativity in maintaining their blogspots. I have so enjoyed reading their entries. I don't know why anyone would want to read mine, but I decided to give it a try beginning with the new year. This is something I have thought about for quite awhile.

I remember how 'therapetic' (to quote my hero, Barney Fife) it was to write the journal entries on the Caringbridge site when Dad was sick. Who knows, this could be the start of a 'novel' idea. LOL.

Names will be changed to protect the innocent...not!

Maggie, Oliver and I are relaxing and listening to rain. Rosy is at the bowling alley getting in some practice for tomorrow's tourney. How blessed to be safe, dry and warm.
